XMIOS SYSTEM BENEFITS

For Developers / Integrators

Upgrade Solution for Legacy IOS Systems

The XMIOS System is the ideal solution for adding new life and efficiency to older training devices by replacing obsolete and proprietary IOS systems. Using an XMIOS translator, existing legacy IOS display pages can be quickly translated into the new XMIOS System format to assist the upgrade effort.

Versatile hardware Platforms

The XMIOS System can run with a Host Computer (Unix/Linux based) or run on a satellite PC utilizing various standard communication (TCP/IP, Reflective Memory, HSD, RS-232, and DR-11W) protocols.

System Scalability

The inherent design of the XMIOS System enables various configurations (multiple displays at one IOS location to multiple displays at several IOS locations) to be provided. This capability also provides an effective means to support incremental IOS upgrade programs.

Easy to Develop and Modify Pages

Each page is a separately coded and compiled file. Display pages are written in a simple "C" code-like language and can be compiled, tested, and implemented without disruption to the IOS operation. Custom coded C-functions and shell scripts may be called from any IOS display page. A XMIOS Development Kit (page compiler, developers guide, make files, and sample scripts) is provided with each XMIOS System.

Code Transfer between XMIOS Systems

XMIOS System software and page code developed on one training device can easily be transferred to other XMIOS Systems to provide commonality with other IOS systems and support display page standardization.

Flexible Layout / Configuration

An editable XMIOS System configuration file is provided to allow the alteration of screen layouts, fonts, colors, resolution, and number of displays.

Additional IOS Support Capabilities

In addition to the standard IOS functions, the XMIOS Display System can be easily converted to an engineering terminal that is ideal located within the training device. The converted engineering terminal, which is connected to the Host Computer, can then be used to support various system testing, maintenance diagnostic testing, and software development. Additional engineering workstations can also be networked to the XMIOS System for remote software development.
